THE VIEW

£££

Perched high on the cliffs at Whitsand Bay on the stunning Rame Peninsular in South East Cornwall, The View is a modern and vibrant family restaurant. It`s simple style allows full appreciation of the breathtaking Rame head, The Eddystone lighthouse and views far west along the Cornish coastline to Goonhilly on The Lizard.

Matt and Rachel are now in their eighteenth year at The View; Matt cutting his ties with the world of fine dining for a relaxed approach, simple food cooked precisely.

The use of local suppliers and small producers ensure superb ingredients are utilised. The menu changes daily with a bias towards local fish and seafood in spring and summer; as the seasons cool meat and game start to feature. The style is simple and clean with an emphasis on the main ingredient.

THE CANTEEN

£££

Only inquisitive and curious diners make it to The Canteen at Maker Heights, off-the-beaten-track and at the top of the last hill on the Rame Peninsula before you meet the River Tamar. We like it that way, and we think the team running it likes it that way too.

Housed in old barrack buildings with breakthtaking views down towards the villages of Kingsand and Cawsand lapping the water below, visitors on the benches outside can make the most of sunshine and views while enjoying the small but perfect menu.  Everyday there are four starters and five mains to choose from.  On Sunday’s their roasts are popular with everyone.

The food is rustic and definitely nods to chef Nick Platt’s time at River Cottage, except the menu here is very good value. We also should mention that the kiddies menu has just been given a special mention in the Sunday Times as one of their favorite places in Cornwall to take children to eat.

Known locally as 'The Halfway', the stream at the rear of the premises once marked the border between Devon & Cornwall and now denotes the central point at which the twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand meet, hence the name.

Good food and good sized portions in a cosy setting – can’t really ask for more.

THE BAY

Fighting against the corporate monopoly, Nancarrow Farm made a decision; it was dwindle or diversify.

Carefully and lovingly restoring historic barns onsite and evolving the face of the farm, Nancarrow began a mission to create a rural events venue, somewhere that guests could visit, learn about the farm, its produce, sustainability and have a rollicking good time. Opening their barn doors to the public in 2014, they now offer a unique dining experience packed with atmosphere and tasty food.
